Cat hats have officially gone viral thanks to Etsy featuring the planetary fascinator/ solar system kitty hat on their main facebook page! How exciting! Within a few hours of being featured, I had over 10,000 new views of my store, hundreds of new fans, and a few new orders to top everything off!

With all this newfound attention, I had to get back to work producing a few new kitty hats! I had to make three solar system fascinators and one Princess Beatrice fascinator to catch up with my orders. Here are some pics of what Cat Hat Studio looked like in the process:
In the above picture, I have just laid out all my supplies for making 4 hats (I actually ended up making 5; 3 planetary, 2 Princess Beatrice— to make sure my hats are back in stock for future orders). I think 5 is the maximum number I can work on at once without losing track of what I’m doing 
Below is the paint palette that is used for painting the planets of the planetary fascinator. I like to use bright colors so that that the hat looks festive and fun at any given moment.
The below picture shows my fingers, mid- cat hat process. I wonder why I haven’t been trying to keep up with my manicures lately
Half-way through the process and more supplies (GLITTER!) are introduced to the equation below on my desk.

Thanks Etsy for giving the Notso Kitty Shop a little extra attention! Who knows what cat hat will go viral next, but I’m sure looking forward to the next occasion! Now back to the studio to get to work on more hats!!

Every now and then I wonder if my pet costumes are too crazy for public consumption. I mean who really (besides myself) feels the need to dress their cat up like Kanye West? Clearly that’s not an urge that afflicts most normal people.
But every now and then I am surprised to get a sign of acceptance from the mainstream– this time in the form of Notso’s Kanye West / Kitty West costume being used in a Yahoo! video story!!! I was contacted a few weeks ago by a producer at Yahoo asking permission to use my Kitty West image for a story on celebrity pet costumes. Yesterday they let me know the story had been posted.

On top of the brief video appearance, if you happened to click on the “Celebrity Pet Costume” story link on Yahoo!’s homepage on Halloween (yes, that’s right, THE HOMEPAGE) you were greeted by the following image:
AMAZING! Notso is clearly on his way to being famous!!! Crazy or not, my cat costumes have at least some viral appeal. Thanks Yahoo! for validating the insanity that is the Notso Kitty Shop! I can’t wait to get back to work on some new ideas…. Let’s see where this brings me next!

Hello again! This marks the fourth week in a row that I am blogging about some new cat glasses for cats that are now populating the Notso Kitty Shop. I certainly have been busy/inspired lately! I think it is because it is near Halloween, but the Kitty Shop’s sales have been up as well! I have to keep motivated to replenish the inventory and make sure I’m coming up with new designs as well. This week I created another pair of bling glasses for cats— this time for Saint Patrick’s Day. I also made a pair of candy-cane inspired cat glasses to compliment future holiday outfits. How did they come out? Well let’s see.
First I came up with some fabulous new Irish bling shades for my kitty.
I have also included an outtake from our photo session to show what happens when Notso pulls a diva fit in the middle of modeling. Cat models are high maintenance!
This year I wanted to come up with a few things for the holidays that could be worn individually or together with other parts of a Christmas outfit. These candy cane glasses look great on their own, or could be used to spruce up a kitty santa or kitty elf.
What ever will next week bring? I’m not even sure yet myself! I have so many ideas and so many rhinestones and pieces of felt— a dangerous combination if ever there was one.

This week we have three lovely new cat costumes to add to the Notso Kitty Shop. What have I been up to in “Cat Hat Studio”? Let’s see, shall we?
First off we have another Halloween cat hat– this one with ric-rack trim and a ghostly felt decoration on top. Fluffy enjoyed modeling it this afternoon. 
I made this hat by hand-shaping wet felt over a container; then working in a layer of glue to stiffen it. Result in 24 hours: a well-formed hat that is ready to decorate. I’ve used this technique on several cat hats– I love the results so much! Expect a few more of these in different themes in the future.
Okay, so maybe I’m the only one that recognizes that Notso should be famous for now…. But in the meantime he can act the part of a star in his new star-shaped cat sunglasses!
These glasses would make a great accessory for a Hollywood Halloween Costume for your Cat! Notso likes to wear his every day, because he’s a diva like that.
Here Notso models his new Pumpkin-tastic cat glasses! It’s funny how much Notso really doesn’t mind all sorts of glasses– he realizes they are a momentary occurrence after which he typically gets a treat.
